Lila was a stay-at-home mom of three when her husband left, taking her car and leaving her without support. Struggling to cover rent and essentials, she found a job with an understanding employer who provided a car. However, she still couldn’t catch up on rent. Thanks to the Chest, a month’s rent was paid, saving her family’s home. Now, Lila is back on her feet and able to cover her expenses. She is deeply grateful.
Gene, homebound, was out of food with a week left before our next end-of-month delivery. When he called, a volunteer brought groceries the same day. He qualified for Meals on Wheels, so we subsidized his start right away, bypassing the long waitlist for meals and wellness checks. This is only possible in Webster, thanks to your donations.
Sophie’s mental health struggles disrupted her family, but therapeutic horseback riding at Heritage Christian Stables made a difference. This therapy improved her posture, balance, sensory regulation, and self-confidence. Her parents saw a dramatic change—Sophie became happier, calmer, and more regulated, in ways medical treatments couldn’t achieve.

2023 Annual Report (pdf)
DownloadThe “Hometown” Community Chest was created to serve the people of Webster in ways not provided for by other social service agencies. On March 30, 1945 community representatives met to discuss the continuation of a group formed in WWII known as The War Chest Committee. The War Chest Committee had served the community well and it was the intention to consider establishing a local Community Chest to continue its service based work. By 1948, the evolution was complete for the forming of a Community Chest. On April 22, 1948 the Community Chest was incorporated and continues its work to this day. The present Board of Directors meets seven times a year and helps to coordinate the workings of the Chest. Webster is the only nearby town to have its own Community Chest.
