We provide our services on behalf of our donors to all residents in the Town of Webster and others in the 14580 ZIP code. Anyone who is in need can contact us.
In 2025, the Webster Community Chest assisted 834 individuals and families – a nearly 40%
increase from 2024’s 601 individuals and families. For most of these situations, we provided
advice and guidance to receive needed services from other agencies in the area. In some
cases, there is nowhere else to turn and the needs are immediate. The Webster Community
Chest may be able to step in with its own assistance.
Here are some highlights from the Webster Community Chest’s work in 2025:
Over 20,000 meals were distributed to food-insecure families – up from 11,000 in 2024,
7,000 in 2023, and 3,000 in 2022.
29 families received financial assistance to prevent eviction.
15 families received financial assistance to prevent utility shut-off, pay for urgent auto
repairs, or fund a necessary move.
We collaborated with Webster Hope and Gathering Place Webster to offer special
spring, summer, fall, and winter seasonal/holiday meal distributions – in addition to our
regular, monthly food distributions.
We funded 300 meals to Webster residents through UR Medicine Home Care’s Meals on
Wheels program. Without help from the Chest, these older and disabled individuals
would have stayed on a waiting list.
Your donations also sent 13 children from lower-income families to camp and made it
affordable for parents of children with disabilities to receive services from Heritage
Christian Stables and Project Stars.
Nine Webster students received Shirley Miller Awards at graduation to recognize their
exemplary efforts in volunteering and community service.
Recipients of our assistance are your family members, friends, and neighbors. If you supported the Webster Community Chest in the past, we thank you. If you haven’t given, please consider making a donation today!
We provide summer camp scholarships to children of families that qualify. These scholarships are available for a week of camp at the Bay View YMCA or a week of Fun Camp at Webster Parks & Recreation. Click here for more information.
Shirley Miller was the Community Chest benefits counselor for almost three decades. During those years, Shirley became the most visible part of the Community Chest working with those who most needed assistance. Each year, the Webster Community Chest awards scholarships in Shirley’s memory to Webster high school seniors who have performed significant community service.
Check with your school guidance counselor for an application. Besides having exemplary volunteer activity in our community, seniors must be residents in the 14580 ZIP code and be in good academic standing.
