WHO WE ASSIST

Aid to Individuals

We provide our services on behalf of our donors to all residents in the Town of Webster and others in the 14580 ZIP code. Anyone who is in need can contact us.

In 2024, the Webster Community Chest assisted 601 individuals and families. For most of these situations, we provided advice and guidance to receive needed services from other agencies in the area.

In some cases, there is nowhere else to turn and the needs are immediate. The Webster Community Chest may be able to step in with its own assistance.

Here are some highlights from the Webster Community Chest’s work in 2024:

  • 25 families received financial assistance to prevent eviction.

  • 5 families received financial assistance to prevent utility shut-off, pay for urgent auto repairs, or fund a necessary move.

  • 11,146 meals were distributed to food-insecure families, up from 7,000 meals in 2023 and 3,000 meals in 2022.

  • A partnership with Hope House and Gathering Place Webster provided seasonal/holiday meals to 126 families in the spring/Easter, 88 in the summer/Fourth of July, and 181 in the fall/Thanksgiving. We also provided 10 families with 23 children food, gifts, and gift cards for end-of-year holidays.

  • We funded 866 meals to Webster residents through UR Medicine Home Care’s Meals on Wheels program, up from 221 meals in 2023.

  • Your donations also sent lower-income children to camp and made it affordable for parents of children with disabilities to receive services from Heritage Christian Stables and Project Stars.

  • We covered fees for four girls from lower-income Webster families to participate in Girls on the Run, which uses trained coaches and physical activities to build social, emotional, and physical skills while encouraging healthy habits for life.

  • Eight Webster students received Shirley Miller Awards at graduation to recognize their exemplary efforts in volunteering and community service.

Recipients of our assistance are your family members, friends, and neighbors. If you supported the Webster Community Chest in the past, we thank you. If you haven’t given, please consider making a donation today!

Shirley Miller Scholarship Awards

Shirley Miller was the Community Chest benefits counselor for almost three decades. During those years, Shirley became the most visible part of the Community Chest working with those who most needed assistance. Each year, the Webster Community Chest awards scholarships in Shirley’s memory to Webster high school seniors who have performed significant community service.

Check with your school guidance counselor for an application. Besides having exemplary volunteer activity in our community, seniors must be residents in the 14580 ZIP code and be in good academic standing.

Deadline: Applications must be received by March 31.
